Yon Weigand, the "World's" Berlin correspondent, says that nowhere n responsible quarters does the belief prevail that the German offensive is nearing an end. or that the worst is over. On the contrary, it is thoroughly realised that the decisive climax has not yet been reached, and that the Allies will make almost superhuman efforts to crush the German lines. According to a New York cable, the "New York Times" Berlin correspondent saysi military critics consider the recent results of the great offensive itf the West are not encouraging to the Allies. Major Mcraht, in the "Tageblatt,'•' says the enemy overran and demolished the German first line trenches in several places. Our resistance could rot be great, becausa little except dead remained in the ploughcd-up trenches, bui; the enemy's later successes have been email.
