Public attention is drawn in our adyertisng columns to the publb meeting to be held in the Opera House at 8 o'clock to-night (Wednesday). The advertisement urges all who can possibly attend to do so to consider the important question of six o'clock -closing of licensed bars. In Sydney the reform was carried by a yery heavy majority. The nation is passing through serious times, demanding sacrifice,.and every effort to turn out our best and most effective i'orces Jn the interests of victory. The speakers for the evening will be Mrs Atkinson, of Wellington; Mr C. Cathie (who was spokesman of the Wellington business men's deputation to the Premier); and the Rev. P. S. Smallfield (Anglican clergyman), direct from tlie Auckland movement.
