What promises to be the finest patriotic concern ever held in Wanganui, will take place in the Opera House tomorrow (Thursday) night under the auspices of the Wanganui Patriotic Society with the laudable object of laising funds for the dependents of the naval r heroes who lost their lives in the recent naval engagement off the Jutland coast. A programme has been prepared to suit all tastes, and some, of the leading local artistes are assisting this worthy cause with vocal items. O'Hara's Orchestra will play the opening overture at 8 o'clock. The Wanganui Male Choir will sing the chorus "Vocal Combat" (Gault), and Miss Toxward Young will sing "Little Brown Bird." After a recitation, "The Sentii mental Bloke," by Miss M. Kelly, Miss A. E. Cookman will be heard in the patriotic song,'" Be Proud that You are Fighting for New Zealand." Then the Misses filia Mason and Audrey Johnstone (two of Mrs Cleland's pupils) will dance the sailor's hornpipe. IMr Lance Craig will then sing "Drake | Goes West," and Mrs C. I. But this lis only, .the first-half pf. the bill of fare, and when it is known that the second part is equally good, we feel , sure that patrons .will take the precaution to book their, seats in, advance, as there is bound to be a bumper house. The organisers have arranged that special trams Jor all. suburbs will be waiting at the conclusion of the concert." so that there will be no necessity to walk npme. .'The fnil programme appears'elsewhere" in this issue.
