(From oui-igivn Correspondent.) (Special to "Chronicle.") . * WELLINGTON, June 1. Liberals and Labour ar<? apparently going to unite in the attempt to defeat % th e Reform candidate in Hawke's Bay. Mr G. Spencer Clapham, the Labour candidate for HWke's Bay. at the last general election, informed a "Post" representative to-diay that he had no intention of offering his services to the ■electors this year. He had definitely decided to stand asoide with the object of leaving a clear field, for Mr McNab, ivho had been selected hy the Liberal party to contest the seat. Mr Campbell (who at present holds the seat) is a staunch li-eformer. and very popular. . Ihero is every indication that "he will a.u:>iu le returned with a substantial majority.
