Compensation.—Messrs Marshall and Hutfcon wrote asking for compensation on behalf of J. K. Law, who met witii an accident while cycling, owing to tho liam rails being above the road levsl. The damages and expenses amounted in ali to £33 3s. On tho ruotion of tho Mayor it was resolved to inform Messrs Marshad! and Hutton thnl tho Council recognises no responsibility in the matter. Parkes Estate. —The District Land Registrar wrote in connection -wi^h the loading of the Parkes estate, asking what position the Council would take up in the matter. —The Mayor said thai ho had referred the matter to the Borough Solicitor, who, on the motion of Or. Knuckey, was instructed to oppose, i? necessary, the taking over of the roads in the estate. aiawai Street. —TV Carlyle drew the .'Attention of'the Council to the dilapidated condition of Mawai St., Wanganui East. —Referred to the Works Araimoho Affairs. —The questions of fencing on the river bank and the pv»v- : iclirig of a recreation ground at Ara-1 inoho were placed before the Council by the secretary of the Aramoho Beautifying Society. —The letter was referred to the Reserves Committee. Footpaths, etc. —The Wanganui Meat-Fi-eeaiug Co. drew ?fche attention of -tli-cs Co^rieil to the necessity of widening the formation of footpaths on the "Brunswick road. —Referred to Works Cbmmittee. Boundary Road.—The Gonville Town Board . wrote in connection with the Boundary road, .and it was decided to get an estimate of the work. Ai-t Gallery. Mr J. A. Neame wrote in connection with the Sarjeant Art Gallery, and his letter was referred to the Finance Committee, with rower to art if necessary. Winter Concerts. —The Garrison Band appilied for pqrmiission to conimemre their Sunday winter concerts in the Opera House on the 7th June.—Referred to the Opera House Committee. | Benefit Concerts.—Permission was granted to two applicants to hold Sunday benefit concerts in His Majesty's Theatre. Resolved that programmes be. submitted for approval by the Council.

Gaol Site. —The Minister for Justice notified the. Conjifcil 'that he would agree to invest in the Council a road to continue on from Maria Place. —It was decided to agree to the offer. Finance.—Tho High Commissioner for New Zealand forwarded a lengthy communication in connection with the raising of a borough doan. —The letter wa» *ec«Hved. Victoria Park.—The Wangamri Football Association requested that sh-eds and conveniences be erected at Victoria Park. —lleferred to the Reserves Committed. The Mayor remarked that the Association had not done anything for themselves.
