ALARMING INCIDENT AT AUCK-

LAND

(Per Pre>~s Association.^ AUCKLAND, May 20. A six-roomed house belonging to the Government and occupied by Captain Mieklo, officer in charge of the Permanent Artillery, Auckland Division, \\*as completely destroyed by fire at North Head to-night. The building was within a hundred yards cf the -main magazine of the forts. Tills created alarm in the neighbourhood. A gang of artillerymen was employed in covering the ventilators of the magazine and preventing the'ingress of sparks. Captain Mickles states that the cordite stored in the magazine was in such a form that there was no .claiigt'i. '
