Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wellington, have been advised by their London office by cable dated the 16' th inst-, reading as'follows: — Wool soles closed active. Competition is brisk and buying general from all quarters. As compared with the last sale's closing rates: Merino greasy super, par to 5 per cent higher; ditto medium to greasy, 5 per cent higher; ditto other descriptions; par to 5 per cent higher; ditto super, scoured, unchanged; ditto medium to good scoured 5 per c?nt to 7£ per cent higher; ditto faulty, scoured, unchanged ; fine cro.-sbreds,* greasy 5 per cent to 7£ per cent higher; medium crossbreds greasy, any change is in the seller's favour; coarse crossbreds, greasy, par to 5 per cent; higher; seedy woolSj scoured, 5 per cent higher; fine crossbreds, scoured 5 per cent higher; other descriptions scoured unchanged; slipe wool pur to 5 ]>3r cent higher. The total net quantity available amounted to 190,000 bales.' Sold to America 24,000 bales; sold for Homo consumption 121,000 bales; sold to the Continent 40,000 bales; not offered 3000; carried forward 2000 bales.
