AMUSEMENTS, MEETINGS, ETC

HIS MAJESTY'S

"KING OF THE AIR."

A remarkably fine film entitled "King of the Air" occupied the greater part of last night's programme at His Majesty's Theatre. Apart from the dramatic interest, which was well maintained throughout, the actors being well-known Parisian artists, the " K^ng of the; Air" is remarkable for the niumber of specialties introduced. For instaitce the famous (some would say infamous) tango was danced during a party irifa Parisian mansion. The dancers are undoubtedly experts, and those who see them will be able to judge whether or not the outcry against thei dance is warranted or jjht. Again, quite a lot of flyingl is seen. During the great race from Paris to Holland, which has been utilised to build up the story,a moving picture operator accompanied one of the aviators, with the) result that the audience are. to all intents anjd purposes, made fellow passengers. Countryside, townjs and cities flash underneath,' while express trains are overtaken as -though they were standing still. This effect was most realistic, as .was that in which the aeroplane is seen to capsize and fail to the earth a shapeless mass. This is a picture of an actual disaster in* which the aviator was killed. In addition to "Kirig of the Air" a very amusing comedy in< which John Bunny figures and a "Oaumont Graphic" are in the programme, which will be repeated this evening.
