REECE AND GRAY
LONDON, March 8. In the billiard championship match Recce has scored 6475, and Gray 5831. The latter opened! with a break of 208, and later on made 174.
Recce scored his 9000 wihile Gray compiled 7211. Gray early scored 217 and 151 and got within bßs of Recce. The latter then made 352 off a safety miss. At the interval the scores were: Recce 8250, Gray 7067. The "Evening Standard" Bays that Gray was suffering from nerves and that Recce's consistency is remarkable. Inman states that he expected Recce to vnn, but no one expected' that Gray ■would only make eight three figure breaks in four days, especially as he had twice made over 800 with ivory balls in practice. During the championship match Gray struck the balls with greater or lessex spring compared with those in the practice game, and deteriorated 50 per cent.
Miss Ruby Roberts, the well-known female expositor of the scientific game of billiards, will be in Wanganui on Thursday afternoon next in tbe saloon •above Veitch and Muir'B.
