The beef slaughtermen rofus-'d to resume, demanding a week's iva^:s in lieu of notice. As the result <.fa ballot .later in the day they waived the claim and decided to resume to-morrow. A ii limber of shopmen are still out, but it is expected that they will be absorbed when trade readies the normal in a few days. Mr Justice Heydon granted an application on behalf of both masters and men, varying the award by fixing the I hours of butchering employees at 49J weekly, making the starting time in all shops 6.30.
