QUEEN OF THE CARNIVAL.

If enthusiasm counts for anything then the candidate put up by Gonvilie and Castlecliff, Miss Nell Simmons, should head the poll. The meeting last night at the Gonvilie Town Hall was well attended. A strong committee was formed, and Gonvilie divided into districts and other arrangements made to achieve the object in view—to elect Miss Simmons as Queen of the Carnival.

A meeting of supporters of Wanganui East's candidate, Mrs. Fisher, will be held in the Town Hall at 8 o'clock to-night.
