QUEEN ALEXANDRA'S OWN BAND.
HEARTY WELCOME HOME
THie Queen Alexandra's Own Regimental Band returned yesterday afternoon, and was welcomed home by a large and enthusiastic crowd. Many were the expressions of congratulation received upon the creditable performances the band put up in the various tests in its first appearance in the A Grade division. As the band marched through the streets towards its bandroom, in Cook's Gardens, hundreds of people flocked to see it, and the members of the band, particularly its Conductor (Lieut. Buckley) must have felt proud at the warmth of the enthusiasm evinced.
Interviewed by a "Chronicle" reporter, Lieut. Buckley said that the members of the band had thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The band, he saidj had played in all the events in the A Grade. Throughout the contest was most successful, and his band certainly benefited in its association with the high-class competitors it met. During the marching contest, the Queen Alexandra's Band was a great favourite with those who witnessed the march, and the spectators were not slow in expressing their delight. Lieut. Buckley said he would not express an opinion as to the judging, but he was veiy gratified with the success achieved by the band.
