ULSTER TO BE EXCLUDED.
DEBATE IN HOUSE OF LORDS
LORD ROBERTS' OPINION
"THE ARMY'S RUIN."
. Lt.;to<i Tress Association.—Copyright.) LONDON, February 13. In the House of Lords, Lord Londonderry incidentally quoted Lord Wolseley's letter to €he Duke of Cambridge in 1893 stating that if the troops were brought into contact with Ulster loyalists it would shake the foundations of the army. Lord Roberts followed in half a minute's speech. He endorsed Lord Wolseley's contentions, and declared that it was unthinkable that the British army would be called to fight Ulster volunteers. It would be the army's ruin. Lord Curzon pointed out that the Government had now confessed that Home Rule in its present form coxdd not be placed on the Statute Book. ,
