MESSRS. JOHNSTON AND CO., LTD. REPORT.
We held our usual monthly sale on Thursday, 12th instant", to a good attendance of buyers. Bidding was animated. Wool snowed an increase of Jd. per lb., while skins and hides sold on a par with last sale rates^ tallow being somewhat ■easier. , We quote: — Wool. —Coarse crossbred fleece, 9d.; dead wool, 7£d.; stained pcs., 3|d. Skins.—Coarse crossbred, 7Jd.; short* wools, 6£d.; lambs, s£d., 6|d. to 7£d.; broken and inferior, 26!., 4|d. to s|d.; salted, Is. Bd. to Is. lOd. j salted lambs, Is. 6d. ■ Tallow. —Casks (in shipping order), £26 10s. per ton; drums, £24 10s.; tins, £22 to £24. Hides.—Ox (abbatoir), B£d. to B£d.; oc. (butchers') BJd.; cows (abb.), B£d.; cows (butchers'). Bd. to B£d. Other lots, 7|d. i cut and slippy hides, sd. to 7|d.'J -weaners, 7£d. to B£d. Our next sale takes place on the 12th March, and clients are requested to. forward their shipments to reach us not later than Saturday, 6th March.
