CARNIVAL NEWS.
Did you read the Booster? A general meeting of all interested in the Carnival will be held ,in the Borough Council Chambers on Monday evening at 8 o'clock. Every citizen interested in the welfare of the town should be there. The bigger the meeting the more encouraging to everyone. Don't wait to be personally asked, but go along and do your best to give some assistance that may relieve a workeif for. half an hour to go and have adrink. Work is not heavy if many hands help. Younger people of either sex should interest themselves in the Carnival. Jusi< come along to the meeting—there is always a bit of fun there—it's not a Quakers' meeting. There was a heap of excitement in town yesterday over the Q»en election. Quite put the Borough election in the shade. Less^than 1000 votes were registered for two burlyOouncillore —10,200 tickets went out for the Queen election. ■ Tickets went out hot off the printing press. No tickets evGr : ,caused such a, demand in the Island before. People were tumbling over each other for them. Tho secretary's telephone swas going hammer and tongs singing out for tickets all day. Ballot boxes are in many places. Colours of candidates aro showing up everywhere. Meetings of candidates' committees are busy discussing schemes to further the election of their candidate. . Mr. Heinold has given the une of the eld St. Paul's Hall for entertainments connected with the Carnival or Queen election free of cost to the* Beautifying Society, provided that there is no dancing. This is stipulated by the Church's lease. The Carnival executive are thankful to Mr. Heinold for his publicspiritedness. .Boys are wanted to sell Boosters today. Don't forget the meeting, kind readers!
