CONSTABLE CARSON'S DEATH.

An inquest concern in $r the death of William. James Carson, a constable who was drowned on Friday, was held yesterday. In describing the occurrence, Constable Burke stated that the deceased could swim only a few strokes. As he appeared to bo too far out for a beginner, the- witness sworn over to him and urged him to take breath nml He on his back. The deceased caught hold of witness and they" both sank, but separated, and the latter coming Tip breathless floated round for a. time without seeing anything cf Carson. Constable Wade .'lbout that time cried out "I'm dfiuo." Witness readied the phoro. got a boat and assistance, ami drneging operations T.-ere commenced. Tho tide at tho tin?? wis rising; nnd running strongly. Mr Fraser, the Coroner, found tnat Carson met- his death by accidental drowning, md added that the dpppa^pd'^ two OD'iiiT.dc", hnd rendered all possible assistance in the attempt made to rescue him.
