UPOKONGARO NOTES.

. -w~ CONCERT AND DANCE,

(From Our Own Correspondent.) A very enjoyable concert and dance was held at Upokongaro on Friday evening. Owing to the inclement state of tho weather, there were only forty couples present. The hall had been beautifully decorated jwitlv ferns and evergreens, and Chinese lanterns were hung around tho hall, showing the placo off splendidly. The supper was -all that could bo desired, and great credit is duo to the committee for the way thov carried out their duties. After supper Mr. Hodder returned thanks to tho people who had helped to make this little affair ia success. He said that iinyono having children attending school should help on an occasion like this. Mr. F. Baddeloy called for three cheers for .M'r. Hodder. which were heartily given. Tho M.C.'s were Mr. G. Hammond and Mr. F. Oastlos, and they carried out their duties in a-n excellent manner. A prizo was given during the evening for tho host comic singer, and was won by Mr. F. Baddeloy. The song sung was "T Am Xiearly jSpottcd," which caused roars of laughter. Mr. P. Brosrahun was second with tho old favourite. "I Am Enjoying Myself in the
