The Presidential ballot lasted twelve hours, 759 members voting. There were 20 nominations, including that of Dr. Sun Vat Sen.

The first ballot was inconclusive. Yuan Shih Kai getting 471 votes, and Li Yuan Heng 154.

The second ballot was also inconclusive. Yuan Shih Kai getting 497. and Li Yuan Heng 162.

On the third ballot" Yuan Shih Kai •.yas elected with 507 votes, Li Yuan Heiig getting 197.
