AMBITIOUS BULLER.

(Per Press Association.) *""

WESTPORT, Sept. 14

It is commented on as a strange coincidence that the Ranfurly Shield held by Auckland with a break of only one year since the inception of the shield matches and the Sod don Shield held likewise by Marlborough should both have changed hands this year, Taranaki and Buller being the successful challengers in the respective cases. It is suggested that a match between the two Shield holders on a neutral ground, say Wellington, would prove interesting. Buller has this year played five representative matches, winning them as follows: — Against Canterbury eight to five, West Coast twenty to nine, Inangahua twenty-seven to three, Nelson"*sixteen to three, Marlborough three to nil, the total points being: lor seventy-four, against twenty.
