B SECTION.

Wairarapa 13, Wanganui B nil Wellington 3, Southland nil. Eketahuna 3, West Coast 2.

The weather was ideal for the resumption of the ladies' championship tournament on Saturday afternoon. Good hockey was again provided, a spectacle of brilliant play marking the defeat of Canterbury, the leaders in the A Section, by Wanganui. Another surprise was the drawing of Hawke's Bay and Manawatu, especially as the latter were not up to full strength. The play of the Wanganui girls against their doughy opponents was a revelation, and urged on by the support of about a thousand big-lunged, male barrackers, who made the air resound with their cries. Indeed, could Wanganui but have played as well at the opening of the tourney, it would be pretty safe to say that they would have gone right through the piece without a defeat. However, it is only once in a while that Wianganui could play as well as they did on Saturday, when they completely outclassed Canterbury. The results of last Saturday's games place the A Section competition in an even more interesting position than hitherto. Canterbury have six points, and are followed by Hawke's Bay and Wanganui with five points each. Should Canterbury be beaten by Buller to-d>ay, Hawke's Bay and. Wanganui (provided they both win their games) will play off in the final. On the other hand, should Buller succeed in making a draw of it with Canterbury, this will mean that the three teams will have to play off. In; the B Section matters jare more clear. Wairarapa and Wellington are well ahead of their opponents, each having eight points, and thus when these teams meet at 3.15 p.m. to-day the winner, probably Wairarapa, will be called on to play off with the winner of A Section in the final.

Details of Saturday's games are appended :
