THE WEATHER.

(Per t*resn Association.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 12. The barometer rose everywhere on Thursday night, and strong southerly winds prevailed with heavy, showers. Improved conditions have been Tepotrted'generally to-day, and the winds have moderated. Present indications are for moderate to strong southerly winds, backing by west to northerly northwards of New Plymouth and Napier, and increasing northerlies elsowhere. Changeaole and showery weather is probable on the west coast andi in the southern district of the South Island, but fair to cloudy generally. The barometer is likely to fall everywhere after about 24 Hours, and unsettled conditions follow m tho early part of the week.
