OHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 12. A meeting of Canterbury shareholder* of the Bank of New Zealand held this afternoon presided over by Mr. A. H. Turnbull, and representing five thousand shares in North. Canterbury and three thousand in South Canterbury, unanimously adopted the following* motion : "That this meeting of shareholders of the Bank of New Zea-* land emphatically protests against tba terms and conditions set forth in tho Bill now before Parliament, on the. following grounds: (1) That thereby no equitable representation is afforded to shareholders. (2) that in common equity to shareholders the Gove-"nicnt should accept payment of the one million guaranteed debentures in Julynext as originally intended and provided and that provision should be made vhereby tarter such payment is completed the directorate shall be elected or nominated in proportion to the capital subscribed, the Government retaining the right of veto on any policy measure and suspensory power by its chief auditor; further, that the Government having been adequately rewarded for sis past assistance to the bank, is not fairly entitled to further interest in. nnv fresli capital issued."
