Dr Gcorgo Brown, president of the Methodist General Conference of Australia, left Sydney Last week for London, "where he is to represent the Confcix'iiee 'at the 'centenary celebrations of tli o Wosleyan Methodist Missionary Society in England. Capt. Charles Bonner, a well-known sea captain of the "old school," passed ■atvajv at Wellington Hospital on Sunday. The late Captain Bonner was a ueil-knmvn n £u''<i (about Wellington whiarves, and for the nast three year? was custodian of the Sailors' Rest. Recently that institution was wound up. r.nd since then Capt. Bonner had lived .1. retired life. He entered tho hospital last Friday suffering- from rheumatics. Forty rears ago he "was in command of sailers trading round the New Zealand coast. He was also a well-known figure on the west coast in the early steamship days. It may bo mentioned also that the-debased captmrn was in charge of the sailing vessel Oban which capsizerj in Cook Strait some two or three .years, ago. Captain D. Bonner, late of '.the Av.aroa, is a son of the deceased. .
