PRECAUTION IN CHRISTCHURCH.
GERISTCHURCH, July 23. The- measures taken by the Chnistchuxch. Hospital and Charitable Aid Board to fight the outbreak of such a disease as smallpox were referred to in reports before the Board at its meeting to-day. A.report from the Public Health Coir.mitee said: "Owing to advice received from the Health Department that nt^ outbreak of pustular disease (probably smallpox) "had occurred in the North Island, the committee has made arrangements to cope with it should nn outbreak occur in this district. The isolation hospital at Bottle Lake is ready to. receive patients. Splendid accommodation has been arranged for the health ■inspector, so that there shall be no contact with tho office staff, and the chair-' man of the committee has been granted authority to act should an emerg-1 <?ncy arise, without calling the commit-' tee together. The need for vaccination has been urged upon members of (lie Board's staff, and all those likely to be exposed to infection have been vaccinated." j
