(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, July 22. The only fresh development in connection with tho prevailing Maori epidemic in tho Auckland district was the location <if six more native cases at Mangere. Believing tho place to have been tho origin and stronghold of the outbreak in tho district, tho Health Officer re-inspected it, the result being that tho six patients referred to %vere found to be suffering from the complaint. All aro members of tho same family. They were removed to tho isolation hospital at Point Chevalier. Tho total number of patients now at^ Point Chevalier according to corrected figures supplied -by the Health Officer is, 46. of whom 32 are Maoris. Of the» males, . nine aro Europeans, all of whom are believed to ho ' contacts with Maoris, and some of i

whom were living amongst natives wher* tJie^ became infected.. The whole of tho sufferers are making.' satisfactory progress, and it is expected that iouror five will bo discharged in a day or two. Cases reported to Dr, .Freiiglo.^ fro/iic ■country districts were:-—One from Tnngiteroria, Kaipara (Maori), and one from Huntly (European). A report was also received to the effect that tho epidemic is very prevalent amongst, tho Maoris at Otowa, where a native •woman died some time- ago, and where there are several convalescent patients. Suspected cases at Hincra, nearMatamnta, were also notified.
