HAYWARD'S PICTURES.
CHANGE OF PROGRAMME TONIGHT. ' KATHLEEN MAVOURNEEN." Very good business was recorded at the popular Lyceum Theatre last week, which was attributed to the splendid programmes that the management <are now bringing forward. This evening, the usual Monday evening change of pictures will take place, when the manageirent will present, for the first time in Wanganui, Edison's great star drama in two acts, "Kathleen Mavourneen." This picture is a delightful romantic Irish drama that will appeal to every lover of the drama, the action of the play being presented amidst Irish scenery, that makes the picture stand out above. all the Irish productions to date. The plot of the- play is as follows : Kathleen's fresh beauty appeals to the haughty Lord of Kavanagh, -who proposes marriage, but Kathleen is also loved by Terrance. a light-hearted Irish lad. She dreams that she becomes Lady Kavan-* agh', and the terrible revelations which come to her make her fly to the arms of Terrance. Another picture, a starin itself, is "Dr Maxwell's Experiment." by the celebrated Lubin Company. This picture deals with an experiment on the brain, which turns a criminal into an honest man. The burglar becomes a successful man and he advertises for a stenographer. Maxwell's daughter Alice is shown into his office. She shows him a letter stating that morphine and speculation have ruined her father. Dawson, the burglar, marries Alice after two : years. One day a derelict enters DaAv-1 son's house, and he turns- out to be Maxwell, who lives with them for the rest of his life. Lovers of the topical' film will be well catered for this evening with Pathe's London Gazette, and the Great Amarican Flood pictures, while those in search of laughter will'find plenty1 in the films "The Man Higher Un,-' a John Bunny comedy, and "The Unprofitable Boarder," a screaming; Edison nroduction. Another picture that will keep everyone in a simmer of merriment will'be Bathe's latest comedy. "The Amateur Blondin." Seats for to-night may be reserved at H.
