NEXT WEEK'S MATCHES
The local association is to be congratulated upon rite latest move to pro*vide the public of Wanganui, and also visiting sportsmen, with a- splendid evening's boxing. It has now been cue--cessful in matching Barney Ireland, the successful siaid clever - ■ Hawke's * Bay heavyweight, and, W; Bartlett, a. Christchurch boxer' who as regarded as a coming light. Ireland has.earned an enviable reputation on ■ the other side of the ranges, while Bartlett .will be (remembered as having appeared in WariKanui three months ago, when he so. effectually put ..the stopper dn our local crack heavyweights The bout is , a professional one of 15 rounds, for a purse of £70. Other good.contests have been arranged, the principal being that between N. Bond, df Wanganui, and Thomas, of Ngaere. " ] These two lightweights fought out the filial at' the recent Oringi encampment, but the 'margin of points .in favour of Bond was bo small'that a return match, wagsought, and this was successfully arranged. ." •.:•'•■..■.
