THURSDAY COMPETITIONS
These oompetitidnG were commenced yesterday afternoon on th© old Coilege ground. Th© weather was anything but favourable, and th© ground was in a- greasy condition. Phoenix A defeated Federal by five goals to one, and P. arid T. despatched Phoenix B by five goals to nil. The display of hockey was, as _ might have been expected1 for. the opening matches, of a mediocre description.
