FEILDING.
FEILDING, May 1. . A good deal of feeling -was engendered in the Feilding contest by the personal attack made upon the "Mayor (Mr. Gocdbohere) by his rival for the Chief Magistracy viz., Mr. Ongley, who *vas strongly advocated by the local paper. Mr. Groodbehere, however, put up a good fight against the big odds. Mr. A. J. jjreary, Town Clerk, was returning omcer, and ho had a big contract m getting out his returns so expeditiousJy. For the Council there we^e fourteen candidates for nine seats the old Councillors seeking ro-election being Messrs. A. Richardson, P. Thomson R. Heald, G. Harford, and J. l. l>arry whilst the new aspirants were Messrs. W. F. Bramwell. L. T. Brown. R. Burne, J. G Elliott. W. M/rton. J. Penny R Robinson, J. Trewin, and I. Worsfield. Tho results were •-— Mayoralty.—A. M. Ongley 658, Goodbenoro 603.
