Tlie championship and also th© Challenge "Shield at the Palmerston rsorth Band Contest of 1911 -were.won by. the Wellington Garrison Band. They used Hawk©?s Excelsior Sonorous Band Instruments —a'complete set. In the first test piece th© maximum number of points was allotted, the judge declaring that be bad never heard better play, ing. ,H© commended in •eulogistic terms the tone and blend. The Wellington Tramway Band, alsa using a complete, set of Hawke's Excelsior Instruments, won the B Grade.
These two successes on such a groat occassion, are worthy wins for Hawke's, whoso instruments are pre-eminent a'i over th© world. Bandsmen, buy a set of Hawko's —there .are honours and valuable prizes to b© won with them!
