The Lieut-Governor and .the Mayor were present. He made a stirring speech on Defend stating that New. Zealand places the question above party. Discussing Empire defence in the Pacific, ho asked whether Canada was going to stand.by.Now Zealand and Australia .in their ondeavour to solve thd problem. The question must be answered sooner or later.
