WANGANUI RIVER TRUST.

Meetings o£ the Wanganui River Trust, and Wanganui River Trust Domain Board, were held on Friday last Present:—Messrs T. D. Cummins (chairman), W. G. Bassett, T. B. Wilriams, C. E. Mackay, D. McFarlane and W. J. Poison. The chairman presented the balance sheet for the year ended, March 31st, 1912, duly signed by the Audi-tor-Generah * \ , Pay sheets amounting to £313 18s 9d and accounts representing £78 14s Od were passed for payment. Application had been, made to the Under-Secretary of the Lands Department for the balance of the subsidy passed at the last session of the House for £500. The chairman reported on the progress of the works on the river, stating, that the completion of the stone walls at Matahiwi (below Pipiriki) had been completed, that the party previously working there had been sent to Taumarunui to enter on necessary work required below Taumarunui, that two parties were working below Taumarunui on improvements and maintenance work. That arrangements had been made for making a landing place at Ranana, and that further arrangements were in progress for constructing landing1 places at Mangaohutu and other places on the river. It was also arranged that as many members of the Trust who could conveniently do so, should accompany the Chairman on his annual visit of inspection of the river about the 14th inst. RIVER TRUST DOMAIN BOARD. The chairman reported that arrangements had been made for the i r.ale by auction of the leases of the Trusts lands at Taumarunui on the IGth April. The Kaitieke County Council had undertaken the roading of the section to be offered for leaseand Mr. Arthur Brady of Taumarunui was deputed to show intending selectors over the property to bo disposed of by auction for lease. After other routine business was disposed of the meeting closed. It is expected that on the annual inspection of th-o river by tho Chairman, he will bo accompanied by several members of the Trust who will familiarise themselves with the works in progress and contemplated
