SYDNEY RAILWAYMEN ACCEPT GOVERNMENT'S PROPOSALS
Received 8-50 p.m., April 7 . SYDNEY, Anrif 7. A mass meeting of the Amalgamated Railwaymen's Union accepted the Government s proposal to appoint a Royal' Commission to investigate the men's grievances, with a proviso that the following guarantees would be given by j the Government: That the Darling j Harbour porters' claims be given pre- | cedence, and a special interim report lot tJio commission made reo-ardinrr them, any findings of the Commission to be given effect to; the Government to .bear all expenses incurred by the ' .transport Union in -conducting the case; that thsro shall bo no interference with existing rights as to seniority or pensions, and no victimisation of casual, temporary, or permanent em- : ployees • the award to bo retrospective i trom tho time of resumption.
