THE MOTOR HABIT.

[ DEVELOPING IN RANGITIKEI. 35 LICENSES SINCE THE NEW YEAR, (From Our Travelling Reporter.) MARTON, April 4. Tho trade in motor cars still continues to flourish, despite the tightness of tho money market, and in the Rangitikei distritt the principal motor firm (Mr MeKenzie, of Marton) has been doing splendid business during tho summer, both in cars and cycles. Other firms hi the district also Teport good business, and it is interesting to note that tho Rangitikei County Council has issued thirty-five licenses since the beginning of the year, so that it will be seen the farmers are developing the motor habit at a pretty fair nate. Apropos of motors, etc., the following four verses are very applicable:— A month -ago exactly, bought himself a car, In which ho meant to journey For pleasure near and far. But littlo did he travel Before ho came to woe; Ite thingumbob wns busted. Its jigger wouldn't go. Poor is also damaged— His walking gear is Lame, Hl3 ribs aro somewhat broken And out of joint his frame. Amid tho .-awful havoc That blights his sonl to view Ono thing remains—tho mortgago, It's just as good as new.
