lIUNDREDS OF HOUSES STILL UNINHABITABLE.

Reports received from the oountry indicate th^t maiiy: low-lyinfj settlei*s will bo seriously «fFecttHi by the loss of winter feed, and hundreds of miles <•? fencing, which has been damaged or swept away.' The town and district are remarkably cheerful, however, and honoful of a good rftcovery. The light and power services are still oil,"seriously hampering business. On Saturday night shopping was abandoned owing to tho lack of light. It is hoped tka+. the. current will be recto red to-morrow, but there is no certainty about it. -..-•.'
