WELLINGTON, January 28. Tha Rector of St. Patrick's College recently asked the Wellington Education Board to allow winners of scholarships the option of entering St. Pair rick' College. The Board to-day considered the request and passed the following resolution, moved by the chairman, Mr Robert Lee:—"That as. this Education Board is administering a State system of education, and as free places and scholarships awarded ia this education.,district are now .tenable in fcjv^* Wellington Colleges, on© for boys 'ana one for girls, and in a Technical School and district high schools, wholly or in part built and largely maintained by the State, this Education Board would not be justified in allowing scho-larship-holders to attend private colleges. "
