WANGANUI A v. ST. PAUL'S

The spin of the coin favoured Wanganui A, who went to the wicket. A poor start was made, and with the score at 6 for 65 the in-side's prospects were rather gloomy. Faber and Hylton made a stand, both batting well. Faber was good on the off and treated the bowling lightly. Hylton was on it with a vengeance, his timing; and placing beating the field continuously, and runs to him came with rapidity. The partnership had added 101 whe-n Faber lifted a full toss to deep long-on, after scoring a splendid 69. Thompson and Hylton made another good stand and put the ©core up to 206. The latter was the first to depart, being caught at mid-off. The innings closed for a total of 210, the last three wickets making 145 runs. Wanganui A batted one short. St. Paul's set out to reduce their opponents' score in good style, The opening batsmen ran up 50 for the first wicket, but then C. -Holland' got to work, and from five for 103 the score reached 106 all out, six "ducks" being recorded. The scorers were: Tilyard 33, Murchie 25, London not out 23, Brown 10, and L. Holland 8, the remainder getting "blobs." C. Holland was responsible for the rout, his averago rising from one for 41 to seven for 41 —a fine performance, Johngton took the other three wickets. Being 104 behind, St. Paul's followed on, and at the drawing of etumps were 31 runs in the rear,■> with but six 1 wickets to fall. Scores: —

WANGANUI B v. ARAMOHO

Aramoho effected a surprise by getting within striking distance of "Wanganui B. Winning the toss, Wanganui B took strike, and were dismissed (one short) for 167 (Orton 58, A. N. Cave 30, Kiely 24, Howard 15, and Luxford 10.) The wickete were fairly evenly divided. Aramoho started well, 53 being up on the board before the first wicket fell. The score continued to mount, and reached 150 for six wickets, Aramoho requiring but 18 runs to pass Wanganui B's first innings total. However, the tail failed to wag, tho last four wickets falling without a run being scored. It will be interesting to see if Aramoho will hold their end up on Saturday next. They should' certainly do so if Waneanui B's fieldsmen persistently refuse chances, as they did last Saturday. Out of fourteen chances but four were accepted. Good batting displays were given for the suburban club by Seeling (37 not out). Weir 31, Pepper 27, and Fargie 12^ Scores:—
