Mr Bonar %aw, speaking at- Edinburgh, said th> flag of Imperial preference would not be hauled down- Jf the Unionist party was returned it would impose a moderate tariff on foreign manufactures,;, lower than that of any industrial country^ and endeavour to establish co-operation throughout the Empire. In {addition. i<o defence the party would bjplp the farmers in many ways by better housing, establishing small landowners, making more people live on the land, and encouraging beet growing. Ho Hoped +p remove some of tho existing food'duties. If Home Rule were enforced in Ulster by British bayonet* the Government would be blown sky-high.
