AT SYDENHAM.

CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 22. At about 3.40 this afternoon, the Fire Brigade received a call to (Messrs Booth, Macdonald and Co.'s engineering works at Sydenham. ' The fire was confined to the moulding and pAfctenn shops which formed part of the old building. The fire at onetime looked likely to involve the greater part of the works, but the brigade was very promptly at work and the outbreak localised. The damage done was not very extensive. The building was insured for £300 in the Sun office and the contents for £900. Mr. Booth estimates the damage at approximately £1000.
