A SWIMMING RECORD.

AUCKLAND, Dec. 20
At the Waitemata Swimming Club's carnival this evening, M. E. Champion won his heat in the 100 yards event in 61 4-5 segs'., breaking the 'New Zealand record of 63 2-5 sees., held by Bruce. Champion swam second in the final in the same time. The race was timed by four competent men, all the watches agreeing.
