SHIPPING STRIKE PROBABLE.
MELBOURNE, Dec. 18
The High Court decision in the Merchant Service Guild case has caused much dissatisfaction amongst members of that organisation. An inter-State shipping strike* is predicted if the companies revert to the old rates of payment. The men are determined, if the proposals shortly to be placed before the employers are not- accepted, to cease work in each State.
