LABOUR DAY CELEBRATIONS.

The final meeting of the Labour Day Celebrations Committee was held at Dustin's on Wednesday evening.' The president (Mr. J. Berrymam) presided over ft fair attendance.

In connection with, the donation promised to tho enteruammont of the New Zealand cadets, it was resolved to donate one guinea.

Mr Challis is to be written to m connection with the baby show, which ho in to bo informed was open for babies of Tinion members only.

Mr R. Saunders donated a cup for competition at the next Labour Day celebrations. Thcl cup (was accepted with thanks.

Matters in connection with the result of the girls' race (under sixteen) wero reported to be adjusted by the secretary, whoso action was endorsed.

The balance sheet showed that the receipts totalled £141 6s 4d, and tho expenditure £JIO JC*; &l, <'ia-'nh(r. a credit balance of £30 15s Bd, with a couple of small amounts to be paid' out. Members of the committee expressed themselves as very well pleased with the balance sheet which was unanimously adopted.

Eulogistic references were made to the efforts of the secretary and the president in working up the sports, and the secretary was voted £3 3s. over his appointed salary, and trophies presented to Mr and Mrs Berryman.

It was resolved to hold a social on a date to be arranged by the sub-com-mittee- appointed for tho purpose.

An cj-i-t utive committee consisting of Messrs Jordan, Cone-hie, Sundborn, Forrest, Dowelling, Seel 3 Begley, with the president and secretary, was appointed to make arrangements for the next celebrations. Preliminary arrangement» in connection with, tho next .snortfi wore also discussed.

The distribution of medals won by the schoolboys .at the snorts is to be imulo at a convenient time during the visit of the Canadian Cadets.
