Lights were 6een inside a Greek church, which is in course of construction there, and a rumour spread among the Mnhammc'dans of the district that the spirit.of,tho patron saint of the district had moved from its tomb to the church, whero it wa« imnrisoned.

A mob gathered and the Moslems beca,mo threatening. Tho police interfered, and hand-to-hand fighting followed, quiet only being restored with the aid oi a fire-engine.
