MARTON, November 5

At the monthly meeting of the Marton Chamber of Commerce last night, a letter was received from tho Hastings Chamber of Commerce, together with tho copy of a resolution calling attention to tho impossibility of Dominion construction of all tho railways required for the development of New Zealand ; urging the Government to introduce «", policy of light railway construction, particularly in districts where good f-.rterial ror.ds cannot bo made; and, if tho Government is unablo to construct such light railways, urging it to offer facilities for such construction by local bodies or private enterprise, undertaken with tho consent and approval of such local bodies.

It was decided to support the proposition.
