EXTERTAINING THE, PUBLIC
The Marlon Junction Band earned distinction lor itself to-day, when that organisation provided the musical programme. The combination is a very strong one, and it is doubtful if a better country band is to be found. The instruments being the one set .are beautifully attuned, and Conductor Sharp lias trained bis band to ■?. very high (standard of efficiency. In tho solo section tho band is also strongjmd the contributions of Bandsmen McConchic (cornet) and Barton (.bass) were justly appreciated by the larso crowd of listeners. The programme played was as follows: March, "Newcastle" (T. E. Butch); selection, "Gems of Irish Melodies" (J. Ord Hume); waltz, l: Forest Flowers" (Greenwood); cornet polka, "Tho Skylark" (by Bandsman McConchie), (Farrcll); selection, "Bohemian Girl" (.Balfe); intermezzo, "Queen Elizabeth" (J. Ord Hume); bass solo, " Cyclops" (\V\ Ithnmor), (by Bandsman Barton) ; selection, "Our Miss Gibbe" (Shipley Douglas); waltz, "Genevieve" (Alex Paul); selection, "La Gitana" (Maritana), (W. V. Wallace); entr'acte, "Darky Beauties," (W. Rimmer); march, "Breathe not of parting" (Godfrey Parker).
