In the Canterbury Derby, of 1000 soys., he defeated six others comfortably. In the Great Northern Derby, of 750 *soys., he beat his three opponents pointless. That he was a brilliant sprinter as well as a good stayer he demonstrated ,in the Royal Stakes of 500 soys., at Ellerslie, by carrying 9.2 and running six furlongs in lmin. 15 4-sth sees.
