PELORUS JACK.

FEARS FOR HIS SAFETY. (Per Press Association.") WELLINGTON, October 29. Owing to reports of the disappearance of Pelorus Jack, inquiries have been mode of masters of steamers trading to-Nelson which show that this celebrated fish has not been seen for six to eight months. His absence from his usual haunts is so much more prolonged than usual-that fears are expressed that Jack has fallen a victim to some whaling p-arty. . Captain Watson, of the Pateena, does not think Pelorus Jack has been killed. The last time ho saw him was off Jackson's Head, and he is of opinion the fish has merely changed hia 'range and gone out into the Straits.
