Amongst visitors to Wanganui is Mr Page, of the Hawera "Star."

Lieut. Evans (commander of the Antarctic vessel Torra iSova) is a passenger by the Maunganui, which left Sydney for Wellington yesterday. His secretary (Mr Drake) also accompanies him.

A meeting of the executive of the Dunedin Expansion League was held on Saturday to appoint a secretary. For-tv-fiye applications had been received, and it was decided to appoint Mr. G. N. G. Arber, at present in the office of the N.Z. Loan and 'Mercantile Agency Co. at Timaru.

A Jiumber of commercial travellers gathered in Chavannes Hotel on Saturday morning to do honour to Mr R. Holly well (representing Messrs Sargood, Son and Ewen), who shortly becomes a benedict. On behalf of the assembly, the chairman, Mr D. Scott, presented an easy chair and a palmstand to Mr Holly well, the toast of whoso health was duly honoured and tcplied to.

News hag been received in Christchurch that Mr. W. J. Bryan, the celebrated American who has several times stood for the Presidency, Dr. Starr Jordan, of the Stanford Leland University, Mr. J. A. McDonald, editor of the "Toronto Globe," and Rev. Charles Aked. of San Francisco, will probably visit New Zealand in 1913 to deliver lectures on the oneness of our common interests, and to make a strong appeal for world pea co and friendship. The Rev W. Will, one of the oldest ministers of the Presbyterian Church, died on Saturday, says a Dunedin press wire. Mr Will was born in Scotland in 1820, and in 1853 he decided to come to New Zealand. Ho was appointed second minister in Otago, and took up his duties at East Tareri in February, 1854. He remained in, charge of that congregation for 45 years, but advancing years necessitated his retirement irom active work in 1899.

A very interesting wedding was solemnised at St. John's Church on Friday, when Miss Kosa Hawken. sixth daughter of Mr and Mrs T. Uawke-n of Wieksteed St., was married to Or T. W. Wilkin, of Wanganui. The R<*v. Herbert Reeve, Vicar of Christ Church, was the officiating clergyman. The bride, who was given away by her father, was attired in a beautiful gown of white satin, the skirt being drajied with an overdress of ninon -and lace, the corsage also being finished w.th v<\- y pretty decorations of lace. A beautiful veil of hand-embroide-o'l Honiton and a bouquet of whit© rose* and hot-house- flowers artistically arranged completed a very dainty and effective toilette. She also wore a o.«tlv diamond wnd pearl pendant en .a gold chain, the gift of the bridegr.tniri, Hiss Etta Hawken, sister of the or-d^f acted as bridesmaid. She wore a very handsome gown of white satin, with an overdress of embroidered apricot ninon, her hat being to match, and she carried a bouquet.of apricot coloured flowers and autumn leaves. The bride was also attended by her little niece, Mies May Pearce, of Waitotara, who wore -a dainty robe of grey voile, with an apricot coloured sash and a gray hat. The bridegroom's gift to the bridesmaids respectively were a pendant and peridots and pearls and a pearl brooch. The duties of best man were carried out by Dr Eric Marchant, of Wellington. After the ceremony a large number of relatives were entertained at the residence of the bride's parents. The happy couple, who were the recipients of many prsents, left by motor later in the afternoon for the south, where the honeymoon is to be spent. The bride's going-away dress was a becoming navy bluo costume, with a blue hat and a very fine set of furs.
