SEWERAGE AFFECTED
PROVISION FOR THE FUTURE
Naturally, the sewerage system being closely allied with the water supply, is also affected, and it will be necessary to resume the old sanitary arrangements in those cases, where sewerage connections have been made.
With regard to the future, it is impossible to state at this juncture h.;w long it will take to have tho damage repaired, but 1n the meantime the pipes are to be connected with the old dam as speedily as possible, which is practically the work of a day; so that there is no danger of a water famini occurring.
This old reservoir, it may be meitioned, was being retained for auxiliary purposes, and as with the new reservtoir Marton Borough was scrv«vl with a supply that, would meet all requirements for many years to come, and with double the present population. The Council had just within the past few weeks entered into an agreement |with the Railway Depart -nent. "to supply as much water as required at Marton Junction for railway* rurposes, at the low ratn of Sd per 1030 gallons. Whether this contract o,i:< Ho carried out under present conditions remains to bo zoqu. The town, in any case, must receive first consijoration.
