TURKS ADMIT THE DEFEAT

A SIGNIFICANT RETREAT

CONSTANTINOPLE, Oct. 25

It is officially explained that three army corps made an offensive movement east of Tunja with a view to forcing the Bulgarians to deploy and disclose their strength. This was unsuccessful, because the Turks encountered the main army. When they found the Bulgarian strength they did not persist and retired to the south. It has now been decided to fall back on Babaeski Luleburgas, where seven army corps are concentrated. Four more reserves are in course of formation nearer Constantinople.

If the Bulgarians refuse to take the offensive, Nazim Pasha will force a general engagement north of Adrianople. . The retirement from Kirk Kilisse -was purely strategical to enable Nazim's units to concentrate.

Correspondents have arrived at Babaeski.
